Starts by having to shoot scraps in a sector, then shoot scraps on a carrier's path so it doesn't crash into them. It got boring pretty fast.. It is weird underwater sci-fi thing. I tried fast battle where I shot some turret then boss "jumped" at me. It is some kind of simplified game with no content or did I just miss the controls instructions? I have no idea how to play this, there are some conversations in the beginning but other than that it does not interest me to play it further.. https://youtu.be/Gd0t6I7ai2MDespite the fact I personally quite enjoy the game I am actually going to give this a negative review overall.The number of issues, especially with the poor controls makes this a game that is probably going to be most enjoyed by either hardcore retro gamers, or people who have played it before and are wearing the nostalgia goggles. For any one else this game is often going to be quite frustrating.The gameplay is pretty basic, there is only limited targeting, and no way to give orders to your wing men. So many missed opportunities. On the upside I think the visuals at least still look decent and there is a lot of voice acted story going on even if the voice acting is often way overdone. At heart it is really just a basic flight game set underwater, rather than in the air.So overall it has not aged gracefully, but it's not totally awful either so maybe worth a shot when on sale.. It's bad. The voice acting is nothing short of terrible, the plot severely lacks focus, and you'll spend about as much time in a dialogue screen as in the actual game.But I like it. It's got a bit of Descent so the combat's fun, it's got a bit of Elite: Frontier so I enjoy upgrading my ship, and it's got a bit of Metal Gear Solid in that the story feels like it's sprawling to the point of incomprehensibility - though admittedly it outdoes even Hideo Kojima in this regard. At the end of the day, Aquanox tries so hard that I can't help but find it endearing.. It's easy to get into, easy to control, and easy to enjoy.. Post apocalyptic underwater cyberpunk at it's best.Nice story, great world and setting and fun gameplay, as well as great voice actors (in it's German version at least).I've played this game a lot in my youth and it's still great fun.I would definitely recommend this game if you like this genre and/or setting, especially at its current price.I have to mention that I have spend dozens of hours with the CD version of this game before rebuying it on Steam. The few hours I've played it here may mislead you.. An underappreciated underwater space sim. It has one of the richest worlds I've seen, though the gameplay is a bit clunky at times. Still, it's a lot of fun, and tells quite a story.
